Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function correctly, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website operators about how the site is being used.

Cookies contain information that is transferred to your device's storage. The website that placed the cookie can read its contents when you return to that site. Some cookies expire at the end of your browser session (session cookies); others persist on your device until they expire or you delete them (persistent cookies).

Similar technologies to cookies — including pixel tags, web beacons, local storage, and session storage — may also be used on patchguardx.com and within the PatchGuard platform. Where this policy refers to "cookies," it also covers these related technologies unless otherwise specified.

2. Who Places Cookies on Our Site

First-party cookies are set by PatchGuard directly on patchguardx.com. We control these cookies and set them to make our website and platform work correctly.

Third-party cookies are set by service providers whose scripts or content appear on our site, such as analytics providers and customer support tools. Third-party cookies are subject to those providers' privacy policies, which we link to where relevant in this document.

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for patchguardx.com and the PatchGuard platform to function. They cannot be disabled. Without them, services you have requested — such as logging into your account — cannot be provided.

Cookie Name Purpose Expiry
pg_session Maintains your authenticated session within the PatchGuard platform. Required for login to function. Session
pg_csrf Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protection token. Prevents malicious cross-site requests. Session
pg_remember Persists your session across browser restarts when you select "Remember me" during login. 30 days
pg_cookie_consent Records your cookie consent choice (accepted or declined) to prevent the consent banner from reappearing. 12 months
pg_load_balance Routes your requests to the same server instance during your session to ensure consistent platform behavior. Session

3.2 Functional Cookies

Functional cookies enable enhanced features and personalization. They may be set by us or by third parties whose services appear on our pages. If you decline these cookies, some or all of these features may not function.

Cookie Name Purpose Expiry
pg_prefs Stores your UI preferences: dashboard layout, default date range filters, timezone setting, and notification preferences. 12 months
pg_tour_seen Records which product onboarding tours you have completed to prevent them from appearing again. 6 months
Intercom-session-* Set by Intercom, our customer support chat platform. Maintains your chat session and conversation history. Governed by Intercom's privacy policy. 7 days

3.3 Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with patchguardx.com. This information helps us improve the website experience. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

Cookie Name Provider Purpose Expiry
_ga Google Analytics Distinguishes unique users for traffic analysis. Assigns a randomly generated ID. No personally identifiable information is stored. 2 years
_ga_* Google Analytics Session state cookie for Google Analytics 4. Tracks session duration and page sequence. 2 years
_gid Google Analytics Distinguishes users for a single day. Complements _ga for daily traffic reporting. 24 hours
pg_internal_analytics PatchGuard PatchGuard's first-party analytics. Tracks feature usage within the platform (not the marketing website) to guide product development priorities. Data is not shared with third parties. 3 months

3.4 Marketing and Advertising Cookies

We use a limited set of marketing cookies to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and to present relevant content to prospects who have previously visited patchguardx.com. We do not use behavioral advertising cookies that track you across unrelated third-party websites for the purpose of building advertising profiles.

Cookie Name Provider Purpose Expiry
_gcl_au Google Ads Tracks conversions from Google Ads campaigns to measure which campaigns result in demo requests or signups. Used only on patchguardx.com, not for cross-site tracking. 3 months
li_fat_id LinkedIn LinkedIn Insight Tag for conversion tracking and reporting on LinkedIn ad campaign performance. Governed by LinkedIn's privacy policy. 30 days

4. How Long Cookies Remain on Your Device

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire at the date described in the tables above, or until you delete them manually through your browser settings. For some persistent cookies, you will see the word "months" or "years" in the Expiry column — this refers to the maximum lifetime of the cookie. In practice, you may clear your browser's cookie storage at any time, which will remove all cookies from that browser regardless of their expiration dates.

5. Your Cookie Choices

5.1 Cookie Banner

When you first visit patchguardx.com, you will see a cookie consent banner. You may accept all cookies, or decline non-essential cookies (functional, analytics, and marketing categories). Strictly necessary cookies cannot be declined as they are required for the site to function. Your consent choice is stored in the pg_cookie_consent cookie for 12 months. After 12 months, the banner will reappear to allow you to renew or change your consent.

5.2 Browser Settings

You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Instructions for the most common browsers:

Note: Blocking cookies may prevent some features of patchguardx.com and the PatchGuard platform from functioning correctly. In particular, blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging into your account.

5.3 Opt-Out for Specific Third-Party Cookies

You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This add-on prevents Google Analytics from collecting information about your website visits.

For LinkedIn advertising cookies, you may opt out of LinkedIn's targeted advertising through LinkedIn's ad settings at linkedin.com/psettings/advertising.

5.4 Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals to websites. PatchGuard does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals, as there is no uniform standard for how websites should respond to such signals. We will revisit this position if a recognized standard is adopted.

6. Cookies in the PatchGuard Platform

The PatchGuard platform (the application you access after logging in) uses session cookies and local storage to maintain your authenticated state and remember your dashboard preferences. These are strictly necessary for the platform to function. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies within the authenticated platform. Any feature usage analytics within the platform is captured through PatchGuard's first-party analytics system, which is subject to our Privacy Policy.

7. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in applicable law, or updates to third-party services. When we make changes that affect non-essential cookies, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, where required by applicable law, seek renewed consent through the cookie banner. Check this page periodically to stay informed of our current cookie practices.
